The River Wild
Our first annual College & Career Retreat was a success! Not only did we have a spiritually enriching time, but we had fun too. The activity that was the highlight of the week was white water rafting in the Royal Gorge. We experienced Class IV rapids down a narrow gorge with walls 1200 ft. high.
During our training we learned that it was the "guide's" responsibility to steer, but it was our responsibility to paddle.
The spiritual application was unmistakable. In our Christian walk it is our responsibility to do the work, to put in the effort, to strive. It is the Lord's responsiblity to guide our steps. We get into trouble in the rapids of life, the "River Wild", when we try to trade places with the Lord. Instead of "paddling", we try to "steer". Trust the Lord with the direction of your boat, and concentrate on paddling through the rapids.
