The Birthing Center at One World Trade Center!

The Birthing Center at One World Trade Center!

Our hearts and minds are once again brought into the remembrances of the tragic events of 9/11. If I were to tell you that between the 101st and 105th floors of One World Trade Center, there was a birthing center, would you find that hard to believe? You did not find that reported on the news did you? Allow me to explain. We all have no doubt read and heard of some of the great acts of heroism in the traumatic hours of September 11, 2001. The one I am about to tell you of has touched me deeper than any other.  Al Roca of New Jersey didn’t really like his job at Cantor Fitzgerald, located between the 101st and 105th floors of the first World Trade Center. In the photos it is the one with the antenna on top. His job amply supported his family and he was content to stay with it until God dismissed him into something better. He just didn’t realize how he would be dismissed from his job or life. At work he was ridiculed for his faith and they referred to him as “Rev. Al”. On 9/11, Al was at his job at The World Trade Center, along with 657 fellow employees of Cantor Fitzgerald.  When the workers with him on his floor realized the building was about to explode and implode around them, others in his office made cell calls back to their families, but Al couldn’t get through. So Al, unable to get a phone to talk to his wife, Jeanie made the most of his last minutes on earth. What he did was conveyed to Jeanie from others whose loved ones did get through just moments before and at the moment of the collapse. With fifty of Al’s workers surrounding him, he bravely jumped up on his desk and said, “What I have been saying to you has come to pass! Now who wants to come and go with me to Heaven?” He gave an altar call while the office was imploding. And all fifty of them joined hands in a circle of prayer together. And these fifty committed their hearts to The Lord Jesus Christ. What a sight I imagine as people truly say their final, “Amen” while the tower comes down and they with it. They were saved as brands “plucked out of the fire” (Zechariah 3:2) and Al taking them to Heaven with him, where he “…shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever” (Daniel 12:3). So, you see fifty people who had scoffed the faith in the Savior that Al constantly talked about were birthed in the Kingdom of God in the final moments just before the building collapsed.

Those words of Al Roca, “Now who wants to come and go with us to Heaven”, will forever be archived in a pleasant way in the midst of the sad memories of that fateful day. It is so important that Christchurch Baptist Fellowship becomes a greater and continuing spiritual birthing center. “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3). The precedent was established, without the new birth no one goes to Heaven! “Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again” (John 3:7). The local church of Jesus Christ needs to maintain it’s birthing center status!
